Anytime you seek a change through the use of Magick, you should begin by reaffirming your decision. So, before printing out a sigil, or lighting a single candle, take a pen and paper and write your answer to this question.
WHAT DO YOU WANT?
Although it may not be obvious, what you just did is significant. As a result of writing down precisely what you want, you officially extract it from your subconscious and bring it to the forefront of your attention. Thus, you have taken the first step in the right direction by formalizing your decision. Having said that, what you just wrote is probably a very long statement or not focused enough. Attempt now to put what you want FIRST into a single sentence. For example, write the following statement: "I will achieve the following aim."
Next, write what you wish to accomplish. The sentence should express one purpose. Essentially, we are converting a vague wish into specific imagery required for Magick to manifest. Think logically here. If your ultimate objective is a long-term goal with intermediate stages, you should focus on the first milestone or step while still keeping the end goal in mind. After you have completed the first step, repeat the same procedure for the next step, and so forth. For example, if your ultimate goal is to become a lawyer, you will need to identify the steps to achieve this goal.

A genuine "want" is not a fleeting desire or puny wishing. Empty cravings such as these have no actual power. A real "want" is infused with the essence of royalty. There is Magick in it. When your want is on paper, it sets you in the right direction, and your subconsciousness begins to regulate all your power into its accomplishment.
